Theme: “Tuning into the God that Speaks” – Part 1
The contemplative life is primarily lived by learning to be silent and to rest in Christ’s presence within. At the heart of the contemplative vision is the insight that we needn’t go anywhere, or do anything, or become anything other than who we are to be present to God. God is already present to us; more present than we are to ourselves. The contemplative life is accessible to everyone. It is simply the intention to pause, to be still, and, by faith, to rest in Christ’s presence within.
To support this intention, ‘Time for Quiet’ will be offered one Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. at various Churches in Nampa, Garden City and Boise, Idaho. You may come at 8:30 a.m. for coffee, tea and some lite refreshments. Each “Time for Quiet”, experience includes teaching about the contemplative life, reflection on the scriptures, quiet solitary time, and sessions of communal silent prayer and wisdom sharing. During the solitary time, participants are welcome to spread out and use various rooms in the church, the sanctuary and other quiet areas for reading or journaling, and weather permitting to walk outside the church building. All are welcome! Come to a ‘Time for Quiet’ for an introduction to what the Contemplative Life might offer you.
